To be totally honest (never trust anyone who says this) I am not Underemployed. That would mean I am over-qualified for a job that I have. I don't really have a job, just a commission-only, no benefits position. I work full time and am on call 24/7. So far in 2011 I have made about half of what I made on unemployment and then I didn't have to get dressed up or be on call.
A couple of years ago I paid over $135,000 in Federal Income Taxes and now I would qualify for government cheese. I am one of the millions of folks devistated by the HOUSING CRISIS. Not only do I own a New York City apartment(now back at 2005 value) but I made my living for more than the last 20 years selling apartments to very wealthy folks.
Unlike many of my co-workers I have always been a bit on the frugal side. Okay, maybe CHEAP. It is a very good thing as now I am living off my savings. I have always been a good shopper and have been able to sell a lot of my designer handbags, scarves and jewelry on eBay.
So now I am a powerseller and instead of closing eight million dollar apartments I am happy to make a small amount on eBay. Big fall from grace and I try not to be bitter. My user name on eBay is nycrelady11 if you want to check out my stuff, have some great deals right now.
Catch you later,
UB
